Exclude rain from existing or new pads
Exclude rainfall washing from intensive pads
Sometimes there will be only a simpler need for the Redpath Clear roofed shelter system - and that is to keep rainfall from falling onto the hard surface style pads (concrete, limerock, or rubber matted style pads). Excluding rainfall can have massive advantages to the farmer in that it limits the need for very large capacity and expensive effluent containment systems.
These containment systems will often be calculated on the basis of the "worst possible rainfall scenario" and local councils will strictly enforce the potential rainfall runoff from an exposed weather pad demanding effluent containment and control systems to match.
Protecting the pad area from rain will substantially reduce rainfall loads, and the clear roof plays a huge part in speedy natural drying of effluent sitting on the pad.
Outdoor soft-litter pads when covered will also be of benefit, with farmers telling Redpath that when covered, the deep litter chip will double or triple its service life, due to it not being able to rot away in wet weather conditions.
